Location:

• Primarily based at The Boma Garden Centre, Islip Street, London NW5 2DJ

• Occasional support at external sites where Boma operates

Role Overview

 

As a Garden Centre Retail Sales Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, ensuring they receive a warm welcome and outstanding service. This front-facing role also supports general garden centre operations, including stock management, plant care, and occasional deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

 

Customer Engagement & Sales

• Greet and welcome customers with a friendly, professional manner.

• Understand customer needs and direct them to the appropriate horticultural staff.

• Ensure every visitor leaves the garden centre feeling valued.

• Assist with purchases, including operating the EPOS till system.

 

Garden Centre Operations

• Support daily duties such as plant watering, product unpacking, and restocking.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and visually appealing retail space.

• Help with plant care, maintenance, and product displays.

• Assist with administrative tasks and stock ordering as required.

 

Deliveries & Logistics

• Support delivery operations either as a driver (if you hold a valid licence) or as an assistant.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in customer-facing retail roles, preferably within a garden centre environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage customers positively.

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Hours of Duty

• Full-time, 5 days per week

• Weekend work required on a two-week rota basis
